The First Deputy Chief Imam of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, Imam Sulemana Iddrisu Bamba, has issued a stern warning to all New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirants, urging them to conduct their campaigns peacefully and responsibly.
Imam Bamba emphasized that destructive actions and hateful rhetoric not only tarnish individual reputations but could also undermine the party’s long-term prospects. He reminded candidates that the ultimate political contest lies ahead in 2028, cautioning that engaging in internal conflicts now would be self-defeating.
> “You must remember that bigger elections are coming. Destroying yourselves today will not help you or the party tomorrow,” he said, highlighting the importance of long-term thinking and discipline.
Drawing from scripture, the Deputy Chief Imam cited Matthew 5:9, which calls on believers to “strive for peace, for they shall be called the children of God,” urging aspirants to embody this principle in their campaigns. He also referenced Ecclesiastes 12:12-18, underscoring the need to respect elders and warning that disrespect toward older members of society could have serious future consequences.
> “What you do against any elder now will bounce back to you later,” he cautioned.
The First Deputy Chief Imam called on all aspirants to desist from any form of violence—physical or verbal—and warned that hateful speech and aggressive tactics could fracture party unity and erode public confidence in their leadership.
He encouraged the youth to channel their energy into constructive engagement, peaceful debates, and outreach programs rather than confrontations. According to him, this approach would not only strengthen credibility but also prepare them for higher responsibilities in 2028.
Concluding his address, Imam Bamba reminded all candidates that moral integrity, respect for others, and peaceful conduct form the foundation of true leadership.
> “Your campaign today shapes your legacy tomorrow. Choose peace, respect, and unity—everything else is a distraction,” he said, urging aspirants to reflect carefully on their actions.
