The Special Aide to the Sefwi Wiawso Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Afful Kofi Benteh, Mr. Clement Apeweh, has said the MP’s development interventions have reached about 90 per cent of communities in the constituency.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Times Newspaper yesterday, Mr. Apeweh said the MP had prioritised education, health, roads, agriculture, scholarships, youth development and employment opportunities since assuming office.
He said the MP had lobbied for eight projects under the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), including a six-unit classroom block at Datano, teachers’ accommodation, a dining hall at Sefwi Senior High Technical School (SESTECH) and a 600-bed boys’ dormitory at Sewass.
According to him, a dining hall project at ASEC was also being pursued, while contractors were currently working on the various projects. He added that officials from the World Bank and the Ghana Education Service (GES) had recently inspected a TVET project site at Boako.
Mr. Apeweh said the MP had also supported 51 JHS and tertiary graduates, with tertiary beneficiaries receiving GH¢2,000 each and JHS graduates receiving GH¢1,000 each. He said in 2025, 35 graduates who gained admission to senior high schools were also supported with GH¢1,000 each.
He said the MP had further supported WASSCE resit candidates, with 30 candidates receiving GH¢5,800 each in 2025, while 35 candidates had been supported to rewrite the examination in 2026.
Mr. Apeweh said beneficiaries of the WASSCE support had successfully passed their examinations and were using their certificates to pursue opportunities, including recruitment into the military and other institutions.
He mentioned the construction of a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) facility at Bosomoiso through the MP’s Common Fund, renovation works at the Asawinso School and interventions at Nkonya, Dwinase Durbar Grounds and Anyinabrem.
He also cited the renovation of eight-bedroom teachers’ accommodation at Abonse and support for candidates from both private and public schools, saying the MP paid GH¢90 each for their passports last year.
According to Mr. Apeweh, educational projects at Nyamenae included a three-unit classroom block, changing room and staff room, while projects at Nyamebekyere and Pewodee, which were initiated under former MP Evans Aidoo, had subsequently been completed by the current MP. He also mentioned support for the Methodist Primary School at Adwenase.
On health, he said the MP had constructed the Kojina CHPS compound and the Keteboi CHPS compound, including a borehole. He also said the MP had completed the Sefwi Wiawso Mothers’ Hostel, which was initiated under the former MP.
Mr. Apeweh said the MP secured 15 GETFund scholarships and 20 local scholarships in 2025, while this year, 25 GETFund scholarships and 14 local scholarships had been secured, with the processes for most of them nearing completion.
He said the MP had also facilitated employment opportunities in the security sector, including 14 military recruitment slots for 14 communities, five Interior Ministry slots for five communities and opportunities under the Narcotics Control Commission. He said 21 sets of communities had so far benefited from military recruitment, while GES recruitment beneficiaries had increased from 15 last year to 74 this year.
On roads and agriculture, Mr. Apeweh said the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency had qualified for the 10-kilometre roads-per-constituency project, with communities including Asafo Junction, Akyekyen, Kestown, Kojina and Fuataa benefiting from road works. He added that roads at Nsuosua, Fuutaa and Takyikrom had also been reshaped under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP).
He further said the MP had lobbied for 8,630 bags of fertiliser for farmers, including 600 bags for rice farmers in 2025 and 3,700 bags in 2026. He added that the constituency had more than 25,000 acres under oil-palm cultivation, with efforts underway to secure an additional 1,000 acres, which he said could create jobs for more than 1,000 young people. Mr. Apeweh said the MP had toured more than 20 communities and received positive testimonies from residents, and called on constituents to remain calm as the MP continued to fulfil promises made to the people.
