The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency is demanding the immediate removal of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah, following what they describe as a series of troubling allegations and acts of misconduct. This call was made during a massive press conference held yesterday, where constituency executives emphatically declared that they “no longer need him” as the political and administrative head of the municipality.
Speaking to journalists, the youth leadership alleged that the MCE is actively sponsoring groups of illegal miners operating within the Nkonten Forest Reserve. According to them, these alleged activities not only breach national mining regulations but also pose grave environmental danger to the area, threatening water bodies and forest resources.
The leadership further claimed that Hon. Osei Boamah has allegedly used portions of the MP’s Common Fund to purchase five Lexus vehicles for himself and his wife. They argued that such expenditure is extravagant and unjustifiable, especially at a time when several communities in the constituency are grappling with critical development challenges such as poor roads, inadequate sanitation systems, and limited social amenities.
In addition to the financial concerns, the ruling NDC constituency executives accused the MCE of fostering division within the party at the local level. They alleged that his relationship with the broader constituency leadership has deteriorated sharply, leaving him at loggerheads with nearly all executives except four individuals. This, they said, has negatively affected internal cohesion and governance within the municipality.
The party also alleged that Hon. Osei Boamah has been harassing and intimidating party foot soldiers who attempt to question his decisions or demand accountability. According to them, this atmosphere of fear and repression has left many grassroots members feeling marginalized and silenced within their own party.
Another major claim made during the press conference was that the MCE has reportedly been boasting that NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, is his uncle—suggesting that such connections shield him from any disciplinary action. The executives argued that this perceived sense of untouchability has emboldened him to “do whatever he wants” without respect for party structures, rules, or the expectations of the people he serves.
However, when contacted, Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah dismissed all the allegations as baseless and unfounded. He described the accusations as a “hoax and a misleading scheme” orchestrated to tarnish his reputation and frustrate his work as MCE. He insisted that he has always acted in the best interest of the municipality and remains committed to serving the people with integrity.
The situation has heightened political tensions in the municipality, as calls for the MCE’s removal continue to gain momentum among party members and some residents. Constituency executives say they will continue to press higher authorities until appropriate action is taken.
Meanwhile, party stakeholders and opinion leaders are urging calm as they work behind the scenes to address the concerns raised, restore unity, and ensure that governance in the municipality remains stable and focused on development.
