The DRIP Secretariat in the Bekwai Municipal Assembly of the Ashanti Region has begun reshaping key roads in the municipality to improve accessibility and reduce the hardships commuters have faced for years.
Speaking to the Bekwai Municipal DRIP Coordinator, Hon. Asiedu Gabriel emphasized that the goal is to improve rural road networks. This includes activities such as graveling and making spot improvements to enhance accessibility for both residents and businesses.
The new bypass connecting Worakese to Asamang will serve as a shortcut for farmers and students, especially as the Asamang community is planning to establish a technical school. As a result, plans are underway to reshape the road to better serve the community.
This is a 3 km road project that will take three days to complete. So far, the team has regraded the Assuminja–Asantemanso–Kokofu bypass before moving on to Anwiankwanta, where a section of the road was reshaped. According to Hon. Asiedu, this 3 km road is the major project he has worked on to date.
In an interview with Dess FM reporter, ASP Sampene, some residents welcomed the intervention, noting that the poor condition of the road had long discouraged taxi and tricycle (pragia) drivers from using that stretch.
He urged all community leaders to follow proper procedures by contacting the DRIP Coordinator to gain access to the equipment and work towards alleviating the bad road issues in the Bekwai Municipality.
