CHEREPONI DCE VOWS 24-HOUR ECONOMY REVOLUTION▪︎PROMISES TO TURN DISTRICT INTO TRADE POWERHOUSE

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Chereponi, Hon. Amadu Kofi Sheini, has announced plans to roll out a 24-Hour Economic Market Policy aimed at boosting trade, creating jobs, and transforming Chereponi into a vibrant economic hub in the Northeast Region.

As part of preparations for the initiative, Hon. Sheini and his team visited the Chereponi Market on Thursday to engage traders, observe activities, and assess the current state of economic operations in the area.

Speaking to the Daily Times, the DCE explained that the visit formed part of his “Reset Agenda” for the district, designed to stimulate growth and unlock the untapped potential of local markets. “We wanted to see firsthand what’s cooking in terms of economic activity so we can make informed decisions on the rollout,” he stated.

He disclosed that the policy would focus on creating an enabling environment for businesses to operate beyond regular hours, thereby expanding trade opportunities and increasing revenue for traders and the assembly.

“We will work closely with all stakeholders in the market and the broader community to ensure the 24-Hour Economic Policy benefits the people of Chereponi,” Hon. Sheini assured.

According to the DCE, the project will involve infrastructural improvements, better lighting systems, enhanced security, and increased access to goods and services to make night trading safe and attractive.

He added that the assembly would also explore partnerships with private investors to modernise facilities in the market, introduce innovative payment systems, and improve storage for perishable goods.

Hon. Sheini believes that transforming Chereponi into a 24-hour economic centre will not only increase incomes but also attract more traders and buyers from across the region, boosting the district’s economic profile.

Traders who spoke to the Daily Times welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that it would increase their customer base and reduce congestion during daytime trading hours.

The DCE concluded by calling on residents to support the policy, describing it as a game-changer for Chereponi’s economic future. “Together, we can make Chereponi a model market town for the whole of the Northeast Region,” he declared.
