Fellow Ghanaians,
Today, we gather as one people, with heavy hearts and tear filled eyes, to bid our final farewell to eight gallant sons of our beloved nation men whose lives were cut short in the tragic helicopter crash on the 6th of August 2025.
These were not just individuals, they were patriots. They served with courage, loyalty, and dedication to Ghana. They braved the skies not for personal gain, but to fulfill a duty to our nation. Their service was their sacrifice, and their sacrifice is now their eternal legacy.
On that dark day, we did not just lose colleagues and friends, we lost fathers, sons, brothers, uncles and husbands. We lost people whose dreams were still unfolding, whose lives were still in bloom. And yet, even in our pain, we are reminded that their journey was not in vain.
To the grieving families, I say this your loss is Ghana’s loss. Your sorrow is Ghana’s sorrow. The entire nation stands with you, not only today but in all the days to come. You will not walk alone.
Let us remember that the Gallant 8 men represent the very best of our national spirit bravery in the face of danger, service above self, and love for country beyond measure. In their memory, let us commit ourselves to building a Ghana that honors such sacrifice, a Ghana that values human life, invests in safety, and cherishes unity over division.
Let’s take every necessary step to learn from this tragedy, to improve our systems, and to protect those who serve in dangerous and critical missions. We owe that to them, and we owe that to every Ghanaian.
As we lay them to rest, let us carry forward the torch they lit with their lives. May their example inspire our soldiers, our public servants, and every Ghanaian to give their best for our nation.
The Gallant 8 are gone from our sight, but they are not gone from our hearts. Their names will live on in the proud history of Ghana.
May their souls rest in perfect peace. And may God bless our homeland Ghana.
