The Ghana National Association of Assembly Members (GAAM) has extended warm Ramadan greetings to Muslims across Ghana and around the world as the holy month officially begins.
In a statement issued on February 19, 2026, and signed by the National President, Hon. Frank Ackah Nelson, the Association described Ramadan as a sacred and spiritually uplifting period marked by fasting, prayer, reflection, sacrifice, and renewed devotion to Allah.
According to GAAM, Ramadan represents a significant spiritual journey that strengthens faith, encourages self-discipline, and deepens commitment to the teachings of Islam.
The Association noted that beyond its religious importance, Ramadan promotes universal values such as compassion, humility, generosity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence — principles that are essential for national unity and grassroots development.
GAAM acknowledged the immense contributions of the Muslim community to Ghana’s democratic governance, social cohesion, and local development efforts, particularly within Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies.
The statement emphasized that Muslim leaders and communities continue to play a vital role in promoting peace, stability, and responsible citizenship across the country.
GAAM further highlighted that prayers offered during Ramadan remain invaluable to Ghana’s continued peace and prosperity, especially at a time when collective national effort is required to address developmental challenges.
The Association encouraged Muslims to use the holy month as a period to pray for justice, inclusiveness, economic stability, and sustainable development in all communities.
Under the leadership of Hon. Frank Ackah Nelson, GAAM reaffirmed its commitment to championing policies and initiatives that promote equality, opportunity, and improved livelihoods for citizens at the grassroots level, regardless of religious or ethnic background.
GAAM concluded by wishing the entire Muslim Ummah a peaceful, rewarding, and blessed Ramadan, expressing hope that the sacred season would renew Ghana’s collective resolve to build a more united, tolerant, and compassionate nation.
