GAAM PRESIDENT MARKS BIRTHDAY TODAY●CHAMPIONS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS AT SEFWI BEKWAI HEALTH CENTRE

Hon. Ackah Nelson Frank, Assembly Member for the Asawinso A Electoral Area in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality and National President of the Ghana Association of Assembly Members (GAAM), is marking his birthday today with a breast cancer awareness programme at the Sefwi Bekwai Health Centre in the Western North Region.

Rather than limiting the celebration to personal festivities, Hon. Ackah has chosen to dedicate the occasion to promoting breast cancer awareness and encouraging members of the community to pay greater attention to their health.

The programme, which he is sponsoring, is expected to educate residents on breast cancer, its warning signs, prevention and the importance of early detection, particularly among women in Sefwi Bekwai and surrounding communities.

Participants are also expected to interact with health professionals and receive information on breast cancer screening, early detection and available treatment options.

Hon. Ackah said the decision to use his birthday to support the awareness programme reflects his commitment to contributing to the wellbeing of residents and supporting initiatives that have a direct impact on communities.

He stressed that it was crucial for Ghanaians to take breast cancer awareness seriously, noting that greater public education could encourage people to pay closer attention to their health and seek medical attention when necessary.

He also encouraged individuals, particularly women, to undergo periodic health checks and screening, stressing that regular medical examinations could help identify health conditions early and facilitate timely professional care.

The GAAM President called on stakeholders, including health institutions, traditional and religious leaders, community organisations and other groups, to champion breast cancer awareness programmes and support efforts to promote preventive healthcare.

He further urged Ghanaians to prioritise their health and make regular health checks part of their routine, rather than waiting until symptoms become severe before seeking medical attention.

The breast cancer awareness programme at the Sefwi Bekwai Health Centre forms part of activities marking his birthday, turning a personal milestone into an occasion for health education, awareness creation and community service.
