The Wassa Moseaso community in the Western Region witnessed a historic and colourful ceremony over the weekend as Nana Annor Wu Asare II was officially installed as the new Chief of Moseaso Traditional Area. The event drew hundreds of indigenes, dignitaries, and traditional authorities who gathered to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in the town’s leadership.

The ceremony, rich in traditional pomp and cultural symbolism, was graced by representatives from the Wassa Amenfi East Traditional Council, led by TetretÉ› Okuamoah Sekyim II. Notable among the delegation were Nana Ampong Kwame Akro I, Nana Ntori Bonkyi Ankomeah, and Omanhene Kyeame Nnu, who represented the Wassa Amenfi Omanhene. Their presence lent the event great significance, symbolizing unity and respect among the traditional councils.
The installation procession began early in the morning with drumming, dancing, and a colourful display of traditional attire. Elders of the community led the procession through the principal streets before arriving at the durbar grounds, where the official rites were performed. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as residents sang and danced to celebrate the dawn of a new reign.
Clad in majestic traditional regalia, Nana Annor Wu Asare II was presented to the gathering amidst thunderous cheers from the enthusiastic crowd. His calm composure and humility impressed many as he waved to the people, promising to serve with dedication and fairness.
As part of the installation rituals, Nana Annor Wu Asare II swore the oath of allegiance before the council of elders and pledged to lead the people of Moseaso with integrity, wisdom, and respect for tradition. He also promised to promote peace and development within the community.
Traditional priests and elders performed sacred rites, including prayers and libations, to bless the new chief’s reign. The outgoing chief officially handed over the symbols of authority — the royal stool and staff — to his successor, signifying a smooth and peaceful transfer of leadership.

The joyous mood continued as the ceremony transitioned into a grand celebration. The durbar grounds came alive with traditional music, drumming, and dancing, as residents and guests joined hands to celebrate the new chief’s ascension. Food and drinks flowed freely, showcasing the hospitality of the Wassa Moseaso people.
In his brief address, Nana Annor Wu Asare II expressed his gratitude to the Wassa Amenfi East Traditional Council and the people of Moseaso for their overwhelming support. He called for unity, cooperation, and commitment from all, emphasizing that development could only be achieved through collective effort.
The elders of Moseaso expressed optimism that under Nana Annor Wu Asare II’s leadership, the community would witness significant progress in infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment. They pledged their full support to ensure a peaceful and prosperous reign.
