The National Union of Tricycle Operators Ghana (NUTOG), in collaboration with E-Moto Ghana Limited, has organised a one-day sensitisation workshop for over 700 members in the Greater Accra Region. The event was aimed at equipping members with knowledge on safety, operations, and financial empowerment within the tricycle transport sector.

The well-attended programme took place at the Oyibi Presby Park, located opposite Accra Grammar School. Members from various districts across the region converged at the venue to participate in the highly interactive and educative session. The event also witnessed the presence of traditional leaders from the Oyibi Traditional Area, who lauded the organisers for their commitment to empowering the youth.

In his keynote address, the National Chairman of NUTOG, Mr. Hamza Hafiz, commended both the membership and E-Moto Ghana Limited for their massive turnout and contribution to the success of the programme. He described the event as a major step toward promoting professionalism and discipline among tricycle operators.
Mr. Hamza Hafiz highlighted the importance of continuous education in the transport industry, noting that sensitisation and training programmes would help curb indiscipline and enhance service delivery. He assured members that the national leadership remains committed to advancing their welfare through capacity-building and advocacy.

He further disclosed that E-Moto Ghana Limited, in collaboration with NUTOG, will extend similar sensitisation and training workshops to other parts of the country, including the Ashanti Region and other operational zones. This, he said, forms part of a nationwide effort to promote best practices and ensure operators meet the required standards.
Touching on support initiatives, Mr. Hamza Hafiz revealed that E-Moto Ghana Limited is offering hire purchase tricycles to registered members of the union. He also announced that Delax Finance has partnered with the union to provide daily fuel support to operators, allowing them to receive litres of fuel on credit with minimal interest and make repayment after their day’s work.
The Chairman further stated that the association is now enrolling insurance packages for its members, calling on all operators to register with NUTOG to become part of the union and gain access to these benefits. He explained that registration will also ensure proper accounting of members and equitable extension of opportunities and support.

He urged all operators to remain disciplined and uphold the core values of the union. He advised members, particularly the youth, to abstain from drug abuse and other forms of misconduct that could damage their reputation and future. According to him, staying away from drugs would help operators maintain focus, stay healthy, and gain public trust in their operations.
He further encouraged members to dress decently and professionally in order to project a positive image of the union. He noted that appearance and behaviour play a vital role in shaping public perception, and urged operators to conduct themselves responsibly so that government and society will see them as essential partners in national development.
Mr. Hafiz commended the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) and the Ghana Police Service for their invaluable support in making the workshop a success. He revealed that the union has already formulated regional task forces to monitor operations and take firm action against recalcitrant members who engage in indiscipline or disregard union regulations.

He once again appealed to government and policymakers to swiftly legalise the tricycle transport business to ensure proper regulation and recognition of the sector. According to him, formalising the tricycle industry will help create jobs, boost the local economy, and reduce unemployment across the country.
The event ended successfully with renewed enthusiasm among participants, who expressed appreciation to NUTOG, E-Moto Ghana Limited, and their partners for the impactful training. They pledged to apply the knowledge acquired and work together to promote discipline, safety, and growth within the tricycle transport sector.
