NUTOG SLASHES FARES BY 10% Amid Cedi Appreciation

In response to the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi and the resultant significant reduction in prices of petroleum products, the National Executive Council of NUTOG is pleased to announce a 10% reduction in fares for all members, effective Saturday, May 24, 2025.

This decision aims to ease the economic burden on our cherished passengers and demonstrate our commitment to their welfare. The recent strengthening of the Ghanaian cedi has led to a notable decrease in fuel prices, thereby reducing operational costs for our members. In light of this development, we believe it is imperative to pass on the benefits to the passengers.

By reducing fares, we aim to enhance the affordability and accessibility of our services, ultimately contributing to the well-being of the communities we serve. We also call on importers and distributors of tricycles and spare parts to consider reducing their prices to reflect the current trend as a matter of urgency. This would not only benefit our members but also contribute to the overall growth and development of the industry.

IMPLEMENTATION DETAILS

– Effective Date: Saturday, May 24, 2025

– New Fare Structure: A uniform 10% reduction on current fares across all routes

– Regional and Zonal Compliance: All regional and zonal executives are expected to comply with this decision and ensure effective implementation of the new fare structure.

We urge all members to familiarize themselves with the new fare structure and display the updated fare charts prominently in their tricycles. Passengers are encouraged to report any discrepancies or non-compliance to their regional or zonal executives.

Thank you for your support and commitment.
