The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has released fresh dates and modalities for the conduct of the 2025 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE). The development comes after extensive consultations with the National Teaching Council (NTC) and the Ministry of Education (MoE).
In a statement signed by TTAG General Secretary, Victor Atsu Anyidoho, and President, Nanija Divine, the Association explained that the new approach to the examination seeks to enhance efficiency, credibility, and align the process with global standards in teacher education.
According to the new timetable, Level 400 teacher trainees who are first-time candidates will sit for the examination from Monday, 13th to Wednesday, 15th October 2025. Candidates who are resitting will take their papers from Monday, 27th to Tuesday, 28th October 2025, though the latter dates remain tentative.
The statement further disclosed that each candidate will be required to pay an examination fee of GHC 450.00 in addition to an indexing fee of GHC 50.00. TTAG emphasized the importance of early preparation and urged candidates to make the necessary financial arrangements to avoid last-minute challenges.
The NTC is expected to provide comprehensive guidelines on the registration process, structure of the examination, and other procedures in the coming weeks. These guidelines, TTAG noted, will ensure that all candidates are adequately informed before the examination begins.
As part of efforts to familiarize candidates with the new modalities, the NTC will organize a series of virtual engagements via Zoom. These sessions will be conducted in collaboration with TTAG’s regional and sector administrations to provide direct orientation and clarity to prospective candidates.
TTAG has assured students that the new system will not disadvantage them but will rather promote fairness and quality in the teaching profession. The Association pledged its continued collaboration with the NTC and MoE to safeguard the interests of teacher trainees across the country.
The leadership of TTAG also reminded candidates to remain vigilant and rely solely on official communication channels to avoid misinformation. “All affected candidates are advised to take note of these directives, prepare adequately, and follow official updates keenly,” the statement added.
The Association reiterated its commitment to building a strong and united front for teacher trainees nationwide. “Building a formidable TTAG front, Teacher Trainees at Heart. TTAG, we mean well,” the statement concluded.
With the GTLE considered a key requirement for professional teaching practice in Ghana, the new modalities mark an important step toward ensuring that teacher education keeps pace with contemporary educational demands.
