Amos Mensah, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Team in the Ashanti Region, has issued a strong warning to the party, declaring that victory in the 2028 general elections is impossible without Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the flagbearer. According to him, the former Vice President and NPP flagbearer hopeful is the only candidate with the national appeal, competence, and vision needed to defeat the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and restore power to the NPP.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Times Newspaper, Amos Mensah — a respected exhaust pipe specialist and dedicated supporter of Dr. Bawumia — stressed that no other figure within the party matches Bawumia’s track record and popularity. “Let’s be honest with ourselves — without Bawumia as the flagbearer, the NPP cannot win in 2028. He has no competitor,” Mensah declared.
He recalled Bawumia’s pivotal role during the 2012 Supreme Court election petition, where he served as the lead witness for the NPP. “It was Dr. Bawumia who stood boldly in court, defending the party’s case with facts and discipline. That moment proved he is more than just a running mate — he is a true leader,” Mensah said.
Mensah also praised Dr. Bawumia’s personal qualities, describing him as humble, respectful, and tolerant. “Whether you are a national executive or a common mechanic like me, Bawumia will shake your hand, listen to you, and treat you with respect. That is the kind of leadership Ghana needs now more than ever,” he stated.
Beyond his character, Amos Mensah highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s legacy of digital and economic reforms, pointing to the successful implementation of initiatives such as the Ghana Card, mobile money interoperability, and digitized public services. “He is not just a talker — he is a doer. Imagine what he could achieve with full presidential powers,” Mensah said confidently.
The NPP communicator appealed directly to party delegates to rally behind Dr. Bawumia in the party’s internal elections. “If the NPP truly wants to defeat the ruling NDC in 2028, the choice is clear. Without Bawumia as the flagbearer, we risk division and defeat. I urge all delegates to give him their full support,” he emphasized.
Amos Mensah’s remarks have since sparked conversations across party circles in the Ashanti Region and beyond. Many believe his call reflects growing grassroots support for the former Vice President and adds momentum to Bawumia’s bid to become the party’s presidential candidate in 2028.
