The Sekyere Kontonkyi Calvary Methodist Church Child and Youth Development Centre, in partnership with Compassion International Ghana, has celebrated its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of transforming lives and shaping future leaders.
The event, held under the theme “Thriving: Focusing on the Center’s Role to Shape the Leaders of Tomorrow,” attracted community leaders, church members, and beneficiaries who gathered to reflect on the achievements of the centre.
Speaking at the celebration, Madam Anita Effah, Project Director for the Sekyere Calvary Child and Youth Development Centre, revealed that over 250 children in the community have benefited from the project. She noted that the initiative has provided access to quality education, healthcare, and mentorship opportunities, giving children the chance to break free from poverty and build a brighter future.
Hon. Akwasi Amankwah, District Chief Executive for Sekyere Kumawu, commended the church and Compassion International Ghana for their dedication to child development. He pledged the government’s support in sustaining the project, emphasizing that investing in children is a direct investment in the future of the community.
Hon. Alex Antwi, Assembly Member for Sekyere Kontonkyi and CPC Chairman, also praised the initiative, describing it as a beacon of hope for children who would otherwise be denied opportunities. He encouraged parents and guardians to complement the efforts of the centre by nurturing their wards responsibly.
Nana Osei Owusu Ababio, Chief Linguist of Sekyere Kontonkyi, urged the beneficiary children to make good use of the opportunities they have been given. He stressed the importance of discipline, responsibility, and commitment as key traits that will help them contribute meaningfully to community development.
The colourful celebration featured cultural displays and thanksgiving, serving as a moment of gratitude for the past decade and a renewed commitment to expanding the centre’s impact in the years ahead.
