GALAMSEY TAG EXPOSED:Aowin MCE Tells Off Detractors

The Aowin Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Stephen Morcher, has strongly refuted allegations made by Hon. Eric Afful, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Amenfi West, that Aowin is a hub for illegal mining activities (galamsey). According to the MCE, these claims are unfounded and lack concrete evidence.

In an interview with the press, Hon. Morcher expressed his disappointment and frustration over the MP’s widely circulated video alleging Aowin as the galamsey hub, which he believes is intended to tarnish the reputation of Aowin and its residents.

The MCE pointed out that Amenfi West and Asankrangwa are rather notorious for galamsey activities, with the presence of Chinese nationals involved in illegal mining. “It is indeed regrettable,” Hon. Morcher said. “It appears that the assertion is inaccurate, given that his constituency is home to the largest population of Chinese residents.”

He further emphasized that Amenfi West has no forest reserve left, as it has been entirely occupied by the Chinese who currently reside in the municipal capital, Asankrangwa. Hon. Morcher called on Hon. Afful to focus on addressing the galamsey problem in his own constituency rather than making unsubstantiated claims about Aowin.

The MCE assured the public that his office is committed to maintaining peace and order within the municipality and would not tolerate any illegal activities. He urged residents to continue supporting the fight against galamsey and report any suspicious activities to the authorities, calling the allegations a bluff.

According to Hon. Morcher, Aowin has a reputation for peace and stability, and he is determined to protect this reputation. He emphasized that his administration would work tirelessly to ensure the municipality remains free from the negative impacts of galamsey.

He stated that in his few weeks in office, he has been able to arrest many illegal miners and seize numerous excavators. Hon. Morcher’s assertions have added fuel to the debate, highlighting the need for factual information and responsible leadership.

Adding that his outfit will not relent until it has clamped down on illegal mining activities, he said, “This requires collective effort and responsibility from leaders, residents, and security agencies. I urge all to disregard any misinformation from anyone.”

The people of Aowin are breathing a sigh of relief following the MCE’s strong defense of their municipality. They express hope that Hon. Morcher’s leadership will continue to prioritize their well-being and safety.

In conclusion, the Aowin MCE’s refutation of the allegations made by Hon. Afful highlights his readiness to clamp down on misinformation while working tirelessly to ensure the Aowin Municipality remains on top of issues and the fight against illegal mining activities.
