The Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Hon. Ohene Kwame Frimpong, was among the distinguished guests who attended the 40th Anniversary celebration of Owerriman Senior High Technical School (OWERRIMAN SHTS) last Saturday. The event, held on the school’s campus, attracted chiefs, educationists, alumni, students, and members of the general public.
Hon. Frimpong was widely praised for his humble and respectful demeanour, particularly in his interactions with traditional leaders and other invited guests. Observers at the event highlighted the MP’s modest entry, his willingness to engage with attendees of all backgrounds, and his culturally sensitive gestures of respect toward the chiefs present.
In his address, the MP congratulated the school for its 40 years of academic and technical achievement and reiterated his commitment to supporting the educational development of the Asante Akim North Constituency. He noted that investment in education remains a critical tool for youth empowerment and national development.
“We must preserve the legacy of Owerriman SHTS by nurturing disciplined, skilled, and visionary students who will take Ghana forward,” Hon. Frimpong stated. He called for continued collaboration between government, alumni, and traditional leaders to improve infrastructure and learning conditions at the school.
Hon. Frimpong’s conduct at the event drew the admiration of many, as he was seen personally assisting chiefs and elders during seating arrangements and engaging warmly with teachers and students. Students and teachers also expressed appreciation for the MP’s approachability. A final-year student noted, “It was encouraging to see our MP interact with us like a father figure. It shows that he cares beyond politics.”
