JOMORO MP’S SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME RESTORES HOPE:OVER 600 BRILLIANT NEEDY STUDENTS TO BENEFIT

In a constituency where financial hardship often blocks the path to education, the Member of Parliament for Jomoro and Deputy Minister of Transport, Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has rolled out another wave of scholarships to support brilliant but needy students entering Senior High School this October.

This year’s package, set to benefit over 600 students, has become a beacon of hope for families across Jomoro. Residents say the scheme has restored confidence in the future of their children and shown that leadership can make a real difference in people’s lives.

According to the Jomoro Communication Bureau, the official presentation of the scholarship packages will take place on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Bonyere Junction. The event, scheduled for 1:30 p.m., is expected to draw parents, Assembly Members, chiefs, and education stakeholders.

Eligibility criteria have been outlined to ensure fairness. Applicants must be residents or indigenes of Jomoro, must have completed Junior High School within the constituency, and secured admission into a recognized Senior High School as boarders. Female students must obtain a BECE grade of 16 or better, while male students must score 14 or better.

Beyond academic performance, the scheme focuses on students from genuinely deprived homes. “This intervention is not just about rewarding excellence but about removing financial barriers that stifle the dreams of our children,” Hon. Affo-Toffey has stressed.

Applicants are required to submit a BECE results slip, placement form, and a photocopy of a national identification card. All documents must be stapled together with a parent or guardian’s phone number clearly written on top. The closing date for applications is Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

The MP’s office has encouraged students to channel their applications through Assembly Members or Head Teachers to guarantee transparency and proper documentation.

Over the years, Hon. Affo-Toffey’s educational initiatives have supported hundreds of young people in Jomoro. Many past beneficiaries are excelling academically, with some already serving as role models in their communities.

Parents and educationists in the constituency have praised the scheme, describing it as both timely and impactful. They note that at a time when the cost of education continues to rise, such support provides crucial relief for struggling families.

In a statement signed by the NDC Constituency Communication Officer, Nyamekeh Lenry, the Jomoro Communication Bureau commended the MP for her vision and urged residents to rally behind her ongoing investment in education, which they described as “an investment in the future of Jomoro.”
