ENCHI SET FOR ECONOMIC BOOST AS GOVERNMENT APPROVES 33kV POWER LINE PROJECT● MCE PROMISES MASSIVE POWER SUPPLY & DEVELOPMENT

Enchi — The future of Enchi and the wider Aowin Municipality is set to take a significant turn for the better following the approval for the reinstatement and upgrade of the Dadieso–Enchi 33kV power line.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Aowin, Hon. Stephen Ntow Morcher, has described the development as a major breakthrough, assuring residents of massive socio-economic transformation under his administration.

The project, which is expected to enhance electricity supply in the municipality, is seen as more than just an infrastructure upgrade. According to Hon. Morcher, it represents a strategic intervention to unlock economic potential and improve living conditions across communities in Aowin.

Reliable power supply has long been a challenge for businesses in the area, often limiting productivity and discouraging investment. With the new power line in place, small and medium-scale enterprises are expected to expand operations, while new businesses may be attracted to the municipality.

Hon. Morcher emphasized that youth employment will receive a significant boost, as improved electricity access creates opportunities in sectors such as agro-processing, manufacturing, and digital services. He added that local contractors and workers will be engaged to ensure direct benefits to residents.

Educational and health institutions within the municipality are also set to benefit significantly. Stable electricity will enhance teaching and learning conditions in schools and ensure better service delivery in clinics and hospitals, particularly in emergency care and the storage of medical supplies.

Despite the optimism surrounding the project, the MCE acknowledged that its implementation will involve certain environmental sacrifices, including controlled tree clearing within designated forest reserves. He, however, assured the public that all activities will be carried out under strict regulatory supervision and with proper authorization.

According to him, the long-term benefits of the project far outweigh the temporary environmental disruptions. Measures are expected to be put in place to mitigate the impact, including adherence to environmental guidelines and possible reforestation initiatives.

The initiative has also been framed as part of a broader development agenda for Aowin, aligning with national efforts to expand infrastructure and stimulate economic growth across underserved regions. It reflects a growing commitment to bridging development gaps between urban and rural communities.

Some national figures, including John Dramani Mahama, have consistently emphasized the importance of infrastructure in driving inclusive growth, a vision this project seeks to advance.

Hon. Morcher has therefore called on residents to support the initiative and remain united throughout its implementation, stressing that development requires collective effort and cooperation.

As the project moves from approval to execution, residents say they are not just hearing promises of development but witnessing tangible progress. For many, the message is clear: Enchi is rising, and Aowin is moving forward with renewed hope and determination.
