PROGRESSIVE GHANA FORUM COMMENDS ATO FORSON OVER PRUDENT ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT ● Commends Value-for-Money Drive, Public Spending Restraint

Conveners of the Progressive Ghana Forum(PGF), Nana Barimah and Nana Takyi, and others, have expressed strong support for the Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, commending his approach to fiscal discipline and prudent economic management.

According to them, Ghana is currently witnessing a Finance Ministry that appears increasingly committed to value for money, efficiency, and the protection of the public purse.

They noted that at a time when many citizens expected excessive government spending and economic recklessness, the Ministry has instead shown restraint and a deliberate effort to ensure responsible use of state resources.

The conveners argued that this approach reflects a leadership style that prioritizes national interest over extravagance, which they say is necessary for rebuilding confidence in the economy.

They further stated that leadership in public finance must go beyond resource allocation and be measured by transparency, accountability, and the real impact of spending on ordinary citizens.

In their view, the Finance Ministry’s current posture demonstrates a growing awareness of the need to manage national resources with discipline, wisdom, and patriotism.

Nana Barimah and Nana Takyi stressed that Ghana’s economic recovery depends heavily on consistent fiscal responsibility and strict adherence to value-for-money principles.

They expressed optimism that if the current trajectory is sustained, it could strengthen macroeconomic stability and improve public trust in governance.

The conveners maintained that credit must be given where it is due, adding that the Finance Ministry is showing promising signs of responsible stewardship under Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

They concluded by calling for continuity in the current approach, insisting that disciplined financial management remains essential for sustainable development and long-term economic stability.
