Former Western North Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Benjamin William Assuah, has congratulated the newly elected national executives of the party and called on all members to rally firmly behind the new leadership.
He stressed that unity within the NPP was critical as the party begins preparations for the 2028 general elections. According to him, a divided house cannot deliver victory, and every member must now prioritise the collective interest of the party.
Hon. Assuah specifically appealed to aspirants who were unsuccessful in the national executives’ election to accept the outcome in good faith. He said personal ambitions must give way to the larger goal of strengthening the party and positioning it for the next general election.
The former regional chairman noted that the newly elected executives had a clear responsibility to unite the rank and file, reconcile lingering differences, and ensure that every member feels included in the party’s activities.
He warned that personal disagreements and internal political rivalries must not be allowed to weaken the NPP at this critical stage.
“Whatever differences we may have, we must put them aside and work for the welfare, unity and victory of the party,” he declared.
Hon. Assuah emphasised the need for tolerance, discipline and collective responsibility among party members. He said these values were essential if the NPP was to rebuild trust and mobilise effectively ahead of the next election cycle.
He further pointed to the party’s prospects for 2028, including the possibility of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerging as the President, as a potential unifying focus for members. The collective goal of returning the NPP to power, he insisted, must take precedence over individual ambitions.
The former chairman therefore urged defeated aspirants to support the new leadership with their experience and ideas rather than allowing the election results to create divisions within the party.
He expressed confidence that genuine unity, reconciliation and a renewed commitment to the grassroots would help the NPP strengthen its structures across the country.
Hon. Assuah concluded by calling on all members to work together in harmony so that the party could prepare effectively and present a strong, united front in the 2028 general elections.
