The District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee for Suaman in the Western North Region, Vasco Obour, has pledged to prioritize quality education and job creation in the area. Expressing concern about the fallen standard of education in the area, Mr. Obour noted that the only Senior High School in the area, which has only a few students, will see a facelift under his watch. He promised to collaborate with the school authorities as well as the district directorate to transform the school into one of the best in the region.
Mr. Obour emphasized that he would work with major stakeholders in education to ensure easier accessibility of schools and eradicate schools under trees. He also promised to improve educational infrastructure, provide teaching and learning materials, and support teacher training programs to enhance the quality of education. Additionally, he plans to give awards and other motivational incentives to teachers. As an educationist himself, he pledged to boost education in the area through collaborative efforts and called on NGOs to support them.
On job creation, Mr. Obour promised to support local businesses and entrepreneurs to create jobs and improve livelihoods. He assured the people of Suaman that he would work closely with them to bring development to the area. The astute politician stated that roads in Suaman District, particularly those in Tooya and its environs, will undergo significant improvements under his leadership.
Mr. Obour revealed his comprehensive plan, which will create easier access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities. This development is expected to boost economic growth and improve living standards for residents. As part of his vision, Mr. Obour promised to utilize the District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP) effectively to ensure efficient execution of road development projects.
The DCE nominee further pledged to create more sustainable jobs for the youth, with a particular emphasis on promoting legal mining practices. Mr. Obour stressed the need for proper mining, citing its potential to create more jobs for the youth. He emphasized that responsible mining practices can contribute significantly to the local economy and provide employment opportunities for young people.
The NDC stalwart reiterated his commitment to promoting healthcare in Suaman, ensuring that healthcare services are accessible and affordable for all residents. Additionally, Mr. Obour reiterated his commitment to promoting healthcare, ensuring that every resident has access to quality healthcare services.
Mr. Obour thanked President John Dramani Mahama for nominating him and assured residents that he would work diligently to justify the trust placed in him. As Mr. Obour prepares to take office, he expressed optimism that the assembly members will grant him a 100% endorsement.
“I am confident that the assembly members will endorse me 100% because I have a comprehensive plan to develop Suaman, and as a former pioneer assembly member with vast knowledge in local government,” Mr. Obour said. Mr. Obour reiterated his commitment to working tirelessly for the welfare of the assembly members and the assembly as a whole, ensuring that their concerns are addressed and their needs are met.
To address the issue of mining in the area, Mr. Obour pledged to work effectively to ensure that there is proper mining and environmental protection. He plans to educate miners on the importance of reclamation and environmental sustainability. This will not only protect the environment but also ensure that the mining industry contributes to the local economy in a responsible and sustainable manner.
Mr. Obour also advocated for decent jobs as the NDC government has promised to ensure the elimination of illegal mining. He emphasized that the creation of decent jobs will not only improve the livelihoods of residents but also reduce the incidence of illegal mining.
In conclusion, Mr. Obour’s comprehensive plan for Suaman is focused on promoting quality education, job creation, and sustainable development. He is committed to working with stakeholders to address the challenges facing the area and ensure that residents have access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
