A coalition of youth groups and parents in the Sefwi Akontombra Constituency of the Western North Region has raised GH¢55,312 to support the parliamentary ambitions of former Member of Parliament, Hon. Alex Djornobuah Tetteh.
The fundraising initiative, which brought together young people from different political backgrounds and parents who say they benefited from his previous tenure, was voluntarily organised following the opening of the party’s portal for Expressions of Interest ahead of the parliamentary primaries.
The group, led by Mr Boadu Hayford, disclosed that the amount mobilised so far stands at GH¢55,312, with additional contributions still coming in from supporters and well-wishers across the constituency.
Out of the total amount raised, GH¢5,000 has already been used to purchase the Expression of Interest form for the former MP, while the remaining GH¢50,312 has been secured towards covering his filing fees and other related documentation when nominations officially open.
Explaining the motivation behind their decision, the group cited what it described as Hon. Tetteh’s remarkable record in youth employment during his tenure as Member of Parliament, claiming that more than 530 young men and women secured permanent employment opportunities across various sectors through his interventions.
They argued that his return to Parliament would provide renewed opportunities for unemployed graduates and skilled young people, particularly through effective lobbying and advocacy for employment opportunities across various sectors.
The group also expressed concern over what it described as the stagnation of several major development projects initiated during his tenure, including the Akontombra Rice Processing Factory, Yawkrom–Aprutu–Nsawora Road, Ackaakrom–Kojokrom–Nsawora Road, Bawakrom–Torya Road and Manukrom Junction–JJkrom Road.
Other projects mentioned include the Akontombra Ultramodern Community Centre, ICT Training Centre and several school buildings, which they claim remain incomplete. They believe his return to Parliament would help revive the projects and accelerate development across the constituency.
Meanwhile, the group has emphasised its commitment to respecting the internal rules and regulations of the party, particularly directives prohibiting premature campaigning before the official campaign period opens. It stressed that the fundraising exercise was a voluntary expression of support and not an attempt to breach the party’s electoral guidelines.
The group further declared its readiness to mobilise more supporters when the official campaign period begins, saying beneficiaries of the employment opportunities, their families, friends and other community members would work towards securing Hon. Tetteh’s return to Parliament to serve the people of Sefwi Akontombra once again.

PRESS RELEASE
4th November, 2026
SEFWI AKONTOMBRA YOUTH AND PARENTS RAISE FUNDS FOR HON. ALEX DJORNOBUAH TETTEH’S FILING FEES AND PAY FOR HIS EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM
SEFWI AKONTOMBRA, WESTERN NORTH REGION – A cross-section of constituents in Sefwi Akontombra, comprising youth groups across political divides as well as grateful parents, have voluntarily mobilised financial resources to sponsor the parliamentary bid of former Member of Parliament, Hon. Alex Djornobuah Tetteh.
Following the opening of the party’s portal for Expressions of Interest for the parliamentary primaries, the group, led by Mr Boadu Hayford, initiated a voluntary fundraising drive. To date, the mobilisation has raised a total of Fifty-Five Thousand, Three Hundred and Twelve Ghana Cedis (GH¢55,312).
Out of this amount, Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢5,000) has already been used to purchase the Expression of Interest form for Hon. Alex Djornobuah Tetteh. The remaining balance has been secured, with ongoing contributions being received to fully cover his filing fees and documentation as soon as nominations officially open.
REASONS FOR OUR VOLUNTARY FINANCIAL SUPPORT
(A). Unprecedented Youth Employment
During his tenure as Member of Parliament, over 530 young men and women secured permanent employment opportunities across various sectors, a record of job creation unprecedented in the history of the Sefwi Akontombra Constituency.
(B). Lobbying Power for the Unemployed
The current lack of effective representation has left many young graduates and skilled youths without anyone to lobby on their behalf. The return of Hon. Alex Tetteh represents renewed hope for securing permanent jobs for those currently unemployed.
(C). Stagnation of Key Infrastructural Projects
Major developmental projects initiated during his tenure have hit a standstill. Critical infrastructure, including the Akontombra Rice Processing Factory, Yawkrom–Aprutu–Nsawora Road, Ackaakrom–Kojokrom–Nsawora Road, Bawakrom–Torya Road, Manukrom Junction–JJkrom Road, Akontombra Ultramodern Community Centre and ICT Training Centre, as well as numerous school buildings, remain uncompleted. His return is essential to completing these projects and restoring rapid development to Akontombra.
OUR COMMITMENT AND RESPECT FOR PARTY RULES
We are fully aware of and respect the internal directives and guidelines of the party, which prohibit premature campaigning before the official campaign period opens. As law-abiding constituents, we are strictly adhering to these rules and refraining from open campaign activities at this stage.
However, we wish to state unequivocally that our support goes beyond this financial contribution. When the party officially clears the path for campaigning, over 530 permanently employed beneficiaries, alongside our families, friends and community members, will step out to ensure the successful return of Hon. Alex Djornobuah Tetteh to serve the people of Sefwi Akontombra once again.
