Amenfi West Constituency Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Roxxy Armooh, has cautioned Ghanaians against linking the recent military helicopter crash to superstition and spiritual speculations.
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Times newspaper, Mr. Armooh described such claims as “reckless and disrespectful” to the memories of the eight fallen heroes who perished in the tragic Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter crash. He emphasized the need for a sober, fact-based national reflection rather than fueling confusion with spiritual conspiracies.
“We are mourning our heroes, not entertaining unfounded spiritual theories,” Mr. Armooh stated. “This is a national tragedy, and we must allow aviation experts and security agencies to conduct proper investigations. The truth must be based on evidence—not superstition.”
Mr. Armooh expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the Government of Ghana as a whole, describing the incident as a painful loss for the entire nation. He added that at such times, the country must unite in grief and reflection rather than division and blame games.
He further called on the public and political actors to resist the temptation to politicise the tragedy, warning that doing so would only dishonour the memory of the deceased. “Politicisation won’t help. It only deepens wounds and shifts focus from the real issues,” he stressed.
He also condemned the rising trend of spiritual interpretations and conspiracy theories on social media and in some media discussions. According to him, such narratives risk trivialising the lives lost and stalling the path to truth and accountability.
Mr. Armooh concluded by urging the Ghana Armed Forces, Civil Aviation Authority, and relevant investigative bodies to expedite their findings and share them transparently with the public. He maintained that answers rooted in truth—not superstition or politics—are what the families and the nation deserve.
