Hon Mathew Annor, the District Chief Executive for Bia West, has outlined his key priorities for the district. After receiving an overwhelming endorsement from assembly members, he is focusing on education, development and forest preservation.
He plans to work with relevant stakeholders in education to improve educational outcomes and equip students with skills for future success. He has promised to enhance support for individuals interested in learning a trade, urging them to utilise government initiatives such as the National Apprenticeship Program.
As part of key development projects, Hon Annor has started upgrading roads in the area. According to him, this will make transportation easier and facilitate economic growth in the district. He believes good roads are essential for development.
“As we have already started, the machines are on the roads and will continue today until we are done. I will ensure our roads are in good shape for road users. I believe this can boost the local economy,” he stated.
Hon Annor has reiterated his commitment to preserving the district’s forest reserves by stopping illegal logging and promoting responsible forestry practices. He recognises the importance of environmental conservation and its impact on the district’s ecosystem.
He cautioned individuals who have invaded the forest to fell trees to stop, promising to crack down on such illegal activities in the forest reserve. Anyone found culpable will face the full extent of the law.
To promote agriculture in the area, Hon Annor will support local farmers with training, access to markets and inputs to increase productivity and improve their livelihoods. He believes community involvement in decision-making is crucial to ensure development projects meet local needs and values.
Plans are underway to improve healthcare infrastructure and support vulnerable populations, including enhancing healthcare facilities and providing access to essential services. Hon Annor recognises the importance of healthcare in improving quality of life.
He has pledged that the government will create more sustainable jobs and tasked youth and party supporters to be patient as the government fulfils its promises.
“Our commitment is to addressing unemployment, creating sustainable jobs and promoting economic empowerment,” he said. “The NDC government is committed to creating sustainable jobs and providing dignified living for Ghanaian youth, with plans to fulfil our manifesto promises and implement policies catering to their varied needs and goals.”
Hon Annor thanked H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the Regional Minister, regional executives, assembly members and other supporting stakeholders for their overwhelming support.
