BIBIANI MCE THANKSGIVING SERVICE : Obeng Expresses Gratitude, Tackles Illegal Mining & Poor Sanitation

Thanksgiving Speech By Hon Sebastian Obeng on 27th April 2025

Reverend Minister of the Anglican church, Honourable Member of Parliament, Constituency Executives of NDC, Branch Executives of NDC, my lovely wife, esteemed members of the Sefwi Bekwai Anglican Church, ladies and gentlemen, I stand before you today with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit energized by the purpose of our gathering. As the Municipal Chief Executive Officer for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, it is both an honour and a privilege to be here with you at this Thanksgiving ceremony.

First and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the most high God for His blessings and mercy. I would also like to thank each one of you, especially President John Dramani Mahama, for the confidence reposed in me, and our Member of Parliament, Hon Bright Asamoah Brefo, for the unwavering support you have shown me and my family.

As we gather in this sacred space, I humbly ask for your prayers. In all my endeavours as MCE, I seek guidance, wisdom, and strength to serve our community effectively. Your prayers will serve as a beacon of hope and encouragement as we navigate the challenges that lie ahead.

I want to take this opportunity to share with you my zeal and commitment to tackling two pressing issues in our municipality: illegal mining and poor sanitation. These challenges not only threaten our environment but also affect the health and well-being of our people. We are taking decisive steps to combat illegal mining. It is our responsibility to protect our land and resources for future generations. I urge each of you to join me in this fight by reporting any illegal activities you may witness. Together, we can safeguard our precious resources.

Additionally, sanitation remains a critical issue. Cleanliness is next to godliness, and it is our collective duty to maintain a healthy environment. I encourage all of you to embrace practices that promote good hygiene and sanitation in our homes and communities. We will be launching initiatives aimed at improving waste management and promoting cleanliness, but your cooperation is vital for these efforts to succeed.

In closing, I want to reiterate my gratitude for your support and commitment to our municipality. Let us continue to work together in unity, faith, and determination to overcome the challenges we face. May God bless you all, and may He continue to guide our beloved Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai.

Thank you.
