DR. HASSAN AYARIGA DEMANDS AUDIT OF FOREIGNERS IN GHANA

The Founder and Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Alhaji Hassan Ayariga, has made a passionate call for a national audit of all foreigners residing in Ghana, warning that the country’s celebrated hospitality must not be turned into a tool for national erosion.

In a strongly worded press statement issued in Accra on Monday, September 30, 2025, the outspoken politician cautioned that Ghana risks losing its identity, sovereignty, and economic control if immediate steps are not taken to monitor and regulate the growing foreign presence within its borders.

Dr. Ayariga expressed grave concern about what he described as a “silent takeover” of local markets, lands, and economic spaces by foreign nationals. According to him, many foreigners are establishing unregulated businesses, acquiring properties, and positioning themselves in ways that threaten the long-term welfare of Ghanaians.

He argued that Ghana’s hospitality and peaceful nature must never be mistaken for weakness, stressing that every responsible nation must safeguard its borders and protect its citizens. “Ghana is a land of peace and freedom, but our generosity must never lead to the surrender of our sovereignty,” he declared.

Outlining a six-point national protection plan, the APC leader proposed a Foreign Population Audit as the first step to ascertain the true number of foreigners living in the country. He insisted that “no nation can remain sovereign if it cannot account for those within its borders.”

Dr. Ayariga further called for strict immigration and residency controls, suggesting the introduction of quotas to regulate the number of foreigners allowed to stay long-term. He also urged decisive action against illegal entry, overstays, and undocumented settlements, which he said are becoming increasingly common in parts of the country.

The APC flagbearer additionally demanded regulation of foreign businesses, stressing that certain sectors of the economy — particularly petty trading and small-scale markets — must be reserved for Ghanaians. “Our entrepreneurs must not be driven out of business in their own homeland,” he emphasized.

On the issue of land ownership, Dr. Ayariga described Ghanaian lands as sacred and called for laws to restrict foreign ownership. He proposed that foreigners be allowed to lease land for development but never own it outright, adding that the soil must remain in the hands of the “sons and daughters of Ghana.”

To strengthen national sovereignty, the APC leader also urged constitutional reforms to reserve top political leadership positions, including the presidency, for “true-born Ghanaians.” According to him, loyalty to Ghana must be unquestionable at the highest levels of governance.

Dr. Ayariga concluded by assuring the international community that his proposals are not acts of hostility but of self-preservation, intended to protect Ghana’s identity, economy, and future. “Foreigners are welcome in Ghana, but only on Ghana’s terms — not at the expense of Ghanaians,” he stated. “We must never allow our people to become strangers in their own land.”

Safeguarding Ghana’s Sovereignty and Future

Fellow Ghanaians,

Ghana is a land of peace, hospitality, and freedom. We have opened our doors to many across the world. But today, I stand before you with a firm conviction: our generosity must never be mistaken for weakness, nor our hospitality for surrender of our sovereignty.

We must recognize a growing danger. If we do not act, Ghanaians risk being overpopulated, outnumbered, and displaced in our own homeland. Already, we see foreigners establishing unregulated businesses, acquiring our lands, and positioning themselves in ways that threaten the very fabric of our nation.

Therefore, I propose the following measures to protect Ghana, for ourselves and for generations yet unborn:

1. A Foreign Population Audit

We must know the true number of foreigners living in Ghana. No nation can remain sovereign if it cannot account for those within its borders.

2. Strict Immigration and Residency Controls

Illegal entry, overstays, and undocumented settlements must be confronted with decisive action. Quotas will regulate how many foreigners can remain in Ghana long term.

3. Regulation of Foreign Businesses

Certain trades and markets must be preserved exclusively for Ghanaians. Our entrepreneurs must not be driven out of business in their own country.

4. Land and Property Ownership

Ghanaian lands are sacred. They must never slip away into the hands of foreigners. Foreigners may lease, but ownership must remain with the sons and daughters of this soil.

5. Constitutional Safeguards

We must amend our Constitution to ensure that political leadership of this great nation is reserved for true-born Ghanaians. The highest offices of the land must never be compromised.

6. Enforcement and Monitoring

The Ministry of Interior will oversee these measures and ensure that the laws of Ghana protect Ghanaians first.

Fellow citizens, these measures are not acts of hostility. They are acts of self-preservation. Every great nation protects its people, its resources, and its future. Ghana must do the same.

Let us be clear: foreigners are welcome in Ghana, but only on Ghana’s terms, not at the expense of Ghanaians.

I call on all Ghanaians, from the North to the South, from the East to the West, to unite in this national effort. We must safeguard our sovereignty, protect our identity, and secure the prosperity of our children and grandchildren.

Ghana is for Ghanaians. And as long as we live, we shall never allow our people to become strangers in their own land.

May God bless our homeland Ghana, and make our nation great and strong.

Dr. Hassan Ayariga
APC Leader.
