Residents of Bibiani in the Western North Region are up in arms against government, accusing their leaders of abandoning the community after winning power.
According to them, the Member of Parliament has done little to improve living conditions, while the Municipal Chief Executive has failed to introduce any new initiatives to change the face of the area.
The residents lament that Bibiani, despite being a resource-rich town, is still plagued with bad roads, poor healthcare, and a lack of modern educational facilities.
They complained bitterly that campaign promises remain on paper, with no visible progress years after the elections. “We are tired of waiting while other towns are seeing development,” some residents fumed.
Particular anger was directed at the deplorable Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai road, which remains uncompleted despite repeated assurances. The poor road network, they said, has made life unbearable for farmers, traders, and transport operators.
Health facilities in the municipality are also struggling. The only government hospital lacks essential equipment, while patients sometimes have to travel long distances for basic medical services. Schools in parts of the town are also in poor condition, with children studying in dilapidated classrooms.
The residents accused their MP of being silent and invisible since winning the seat, insisting that they have not seen any serious development project initiated under his watch.
They further described the MCE’s administration as uninspiring, pointing out that no new projects have been introduced to lift the community. “We see nothing new. It is just business as usual,” they stressed.
The angry residents warned that their patience is wearing thin and that failure to deliver on promises could trigger a political backlash in the future.
They concluded by demanding immediate action from central government, stressing that Bibiani has given so much to the country through mining and therefore deserves its fair share of development.
