GAAM EXTENDS GOOD WILL MESSAGE TO BECE CANDIDATES

As thousands of Junior High School students across the country prepare to begin their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) tomorrow, the Ghana Association of Assembly Members (GAAM) has extended a heartfelt goodwill message to the candidates. The national president of GAAM, Hon. Ackah Nelson Frank, in a public statement, expressed the association’s unwavering support for the young candidates as they take this important step in their academic journey.

According to Hon. Ackah, the BECE marks a defining moment in the life of every student, as it serves as a gateway to higher levels of education and future opportunities. He urged all candidates to approach the exams with confidence, diligence, and a calm mind, noting that success is achievable through determination and focus.

“We at GAAM believe in the potential of every Ghanaian child. The BECE is not just a test of academic knowledge but a test of perseverance and discipline. We are proud of how far these students have come, and we trust they will excel,” Hon. Ackah stated.

He further encouraged students to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations governing the exams, stressing that integrity and honesty are key principles that must be upheld at all times. He warned against any form of malpractice, reminding candidates that success earned through hard work is the most rewarding.

Hon. Ackah also used the opportunity to commend teachers, parents, and guardians for the crucial roles they have played in preparing the candidates for this moment. He acknowledged the sacrifices and dedication of educators across the country, particularly in remote and underserved communities, who continue to mould the future of Ghana.

GAAM called on all Assembly Members nationwide to show solidarity and support to BECE candidates in their respective electoral areas. Hon. Ackah encouraged members to visit examination centres, motivate the students, and ensure a peaceful and conducive environment throughout the examination period.

“Community leaders must show up. These children represent the future of our districts, regions, and nations. Let us be present for them — morally and emotionally — so they know they are not alone,” he said.

He also appealed to examination invigilators to avoid acts of intimidation during the exams, urging them to rather create a calm and supportive environment that enables candidates to perform their best. At the same time, he encouraged the candidates to make their parents and communities proud, emphasizing that this marks the true beginning of their academic and educational careers.

The association further appealed to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and all examination supervisors to maintain high standards of professionalism and fairness throughout the examination process. According to GAAM, the credibility of the BECE is critical to public trust in the education system.

In concluding his message, Hon. Ackah urged the candidates to remain hopeful, eat well, and get adequate rest ahead of their papers. “We are confident that the 2025 BECE candidates will make us proud. May this examination be a stepping stone to even greater achievements in your lives,” he added.

The 2025 BECE is scheduled to commence on Monday, June 11, across the country, with thousands of students expected to sit for papers in English Language, Mathematics, Science, and other core and elective subjects over the course of the week.
