- Ismael Abubakar, who is vying for the position of NDC Constituency Communications Officer for the Ahafo Ano South East Constituency, has outlined a vision to bridge the information gap between communities, party structures and development stakeholders.
Mr. Abubakar, who hails from Asempanaye, said his vision was to build a strong and well-coordinated grassroots communication team capable of ensuring that information about development projects, community concerns and other important activities reached residents in a timely manner.
As part of his vision, he is proposing the establishment of a network of 84 Electoral Area Communicators, with four communicators assigned to each Electoral Area.
According to him, the communicators would serve as a link between the grassroots, party structures and relevant stakeholders by gathering information from their respective communities and communicating issues requiring attention to the appropriate quarters.
Mr. Abubakar also intends to leverage digital platforms, particularly Facebook and TikTok, to consistently showcase development projects and other activities taking place across the constituency.
He said the use of social media would help increase public awareness of projects and initiatives while creating an avenue for residents to engage with issues affecting their communities.
Beyond digital communication, he said each Branch Communicator would be responsible for bringing forward issues that needed to be addressed and regularly visiting information centres within their communities to disseminate relevant information.
He stressed that effective communication should not be limited to publicity but must also involve listening to the concerns and aspirations of residents at the grassroots and channelling such concerns to the appropriate authorities and party structures.
Mr. Abubakar further identified mentorship as a key component of his vision, saying experienced communicators should train and guide young people interested in political communication, public speaking, digital media and community engagement.
He said a properly mentored and coordinated communications team would strengthen information flow, improve grassroots participation and create a more responsive communication structure across the Ahafo Ano South East Constituency.
Mr. Abubakar said his experience within the NDC had equipped him with an understanding of grassroots mobilisation and communication. He previously served as Dwenewoho Electoral Area Ward Coordinator in 2024, TEIN Organiser at Kumasi Technical University in 2024, and Asempanaye D/A Branch Organiser.
He has also been a member of the NDC Regional Communications Team since 2023, a position through which he said he had gained further experience in political communication and community engagement.
Mr. Abubakar is campaigning under the theme “Commitment, Competency and Loyalty” and is appealing to delegates for their support as he seeks victory in the 2026 NDC Ahafo Ano South East Constituency elections.
