The NPP flagbearer hopeful for the 2028 elections, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has commenced a three-day campaign tour of the Western North Region, aimed at engaging delegates, strengthening grassroots bonds, and consolidating support ahead of the party’s future political battles.
The campaign activities officially kicked off on Thursday, September 4, with a live radio appearance on Stylish FM, a popular community station in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai. During the discussion, Hon. Agyapong outlined his vision for the party and called for unity among all factions, setting the tone for the tour.
The main tour begins on Friday, September 5, and will cover all nine constituencies in the region. Hon. Agyapong is expected to interact with more than 10,000 delegates and grassroots supporters before the tour concludes on Sunday, September 7. The initiative, according to his team, is designed to reinvigorate the base of the party and prepare a solid foundation for electoral victory.
Speaking to the press, Amstrong Richard, Western North Regional Spokesperson for Ken2028, explained that the tour carries a simple but powerful theme — a Message of Hope and Unity. “The grassroots now understand Hon. Kennedy Agyapong better. He values every member of the party, and that is why he is the right leader to carry us into the 2028 elections,” he stated.
Mr. Richard revealed that he had previously supported Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia but later shifted to Kennedy Agyapong’s camp because he realized Ken truly values every member of the party, regardless of their status. According to him, this quality makes Kennedy Agyapong the true grassroots leader.
Highlighting Ken’s political credentials, the spokesperson said the former Assin Central MP has a proven track record of commitment to the party and to ordinary Ghanaians. He stressed that Hon. Agyapong has consistently invested in the youth, supported women, and stood with the rank-and-file of the NPP during both challenging and successful times.
Giving details of the itinerary, Mr. Richard explained that the campaign will begin on Day One (September 5) with visits to Bia East, Bia West, and Juaboso constituencies. On Day Two (September 6), the campaign will move to Bodi, Suaman, and Aowin, while the final day (September 7) will cover Akontombra, Sefwi Wiawso, and Bibiani.
He stressed that the tour is not just about rallies but also about listening. Delegates and grassroots members will be given space to share their concerns, challenges, and ideas to strengthen the party at all levels. “This inclusive approach ensures no one feels left out,” he said, “and it is the key to building unity and strength ahead of 2028.”
Amstrong Richard also seized the opportunity to call on party members to uphold peace and discipline. He cautioned against hate speech, emphasizing that the real enemy of the NPP is not within, but the opposition party. “We must avoid internal attacks so that, after our primaries, we can come together as one body to win the 2028 general elections,” he urged.
Concluding, the Western North Spokesperson for Ken2028 reaffirmed that the Ken Unity Campaign is grounded in restoring hope, unity, and confidence in the NPP. “Our message is simple — a Message of Hope and Unity. A united party is a winning party, and Western North is ready to lead that charge for victory in 2028,” he declared.
