Hon. Frederick Korankye, former Amenfi East MCE, has expressed strong confidence in Former Vice President and NPP flagbearer hopeful Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, asserting that he is well-positioned to lead the party in the upcoming 31st January NPP primaries.
In an interview with the Daily Times, Hon. Korankye revealed that in previous internal assessments, Dr. Bawumia secured 50 percent of the votes in Amenfi East. He is optimistic that this figure will rise to 70–75 percent this time, out of approximately 1,200 delegates. “I am hopeful the majority will vote for him,” he stated.
Describing Dr. Bawumia as “the only sellable candidate” for the NPP, Hon. Korankye highlighted his popularity and proven track record as reasons why he is the natural choice to lead the party.
He emphasized that Dr. Bawumia’s presence and visibility across the country — through billboards, T-shirts, and campaigns — make him a candidate who resonates with the people. “The evidence is all out there; there is no need to talk too much,” he added.
Highlighting Dr. Bawumia’s achievements, Hon. Korankye pointed to his contributions in economic planning, digitalization, and national development initiatives. “He has a track record that cannot be ignored,” he said, underscoring the Vice President’s competence.
He added that consistency is key in politics, and that Dr. Bawumia’s accomplishments across all sectors of the economy position him as the candidate capable of leading the NPP to victory in the 2028 general elections.
The former MCE also praised Dr. Bawumia’s restraint in responding to attacks from opponents, noting that his composure demonstrates maturity and readiness to lead. “Absorbing these nuisance attacks shows he can lead with wisdom,” he remarked.
Hon. Korankye noted that attacks against Dr. Bawumia are rooted in hatred, aimed at creating divisions within the party. He urged other aspirants to desist from such attacks, emphasizing that unity is critical. “We must remain united as one party,” he said.
He revealed that during their campaign, people who were previously supporters of other candidates have changed their minds and decided to join Dr. Bawumia, vote for him, and indicated that victory is already theirs.
He called on NPP delegates to turn out in large numbers on 31st January and vote decisively for Dr. Bawumia, stressing that strong delegate support is key to the party’s success.
He further emphasized that Dr. Bawumia’s humility, dedication to public service, and results-oriented leadership make him a leader the party and the nation can trust. “He listens to the people, delivers results, and inspires confidence,” Hon. Korankye said.
“Dr. Bawumia has what it takes to lead the NPP and secure victory for all of us in 2028,” he added, appealing to delegates to rally behind the Vice President.
In conclusion, Hon. Korankye reaffirmed that Dr. Bawumia’s achievements, humility, and resilience make him the candidate best suited to lead the NPP forward. “The choice is clear. Let us vote for proven leadership,” he urged.
