PRIORITISE S/BEKWAI–ASANKRANGUA ROAD UNDER BIG PUSH AGENDA-AMENFI WEST NDC CHAIRMAN APPEALS TO MAHAMA

The Amenfi West Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chairman Roxy Armooh, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to consider the plight of residents in the constituency and include major road projects in the government’s Big Push infrastructure agenda.

Chairman Armooh said the poor state of roads in Amenfi West continues to affect the daily lives of residents, motorists, traders and farmers. He noted that several communities are struggling with road networks that require urgent government attention.

He specifically mentioned the Sefwi Bekwai–Asankrangua road and the Bawdie–Asankrangua road, as well as roads around the Samreboi and Wassa Dunkwa areas, which he said have not received the attention they deserve.

He stressed that the poor road conditions are affecting the movement of people and goods and slowing down economic activities across the constituency.

According to him, the Kodjourkrom road must also be completed, while the Aboye Nkwanta–Samreboi road and the Prestea–Nkwanta road require urgent attention. He said some of these road projects have remained on the agenda for years without the expected progress.

Chairman Armooh noted that the road challenges are particularly worrying because they affect farmers and traders who depend on good roads to transport their produce and goods to market centres.

He therefore appealed to President Mahama to consider the various road projects under the Big Push programme and provide the needed resources for their completion.

He recalled that some of the road projects were initiated during the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, but expressed concern that little or no progress had been made on some of them. He urged the current administration to take steps to complete abandoned or delayed projects.

The NDC Constituency Chairman also endorsed Gyamanso as the incoming Constituency Chairman, explaining that after serving the party for twelve years, he would not seek another term. He expressed confidence that Gyamanso could provide the leadership needed to continue the development of the constituency and strengthen the party.

Chairman Roxy Armooh further called on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to prioritise development and focus on projects that directly address the needs of residents.

He expressed hope that President Mahama and the relevant authorities would respond positively to the concerns of Amenfi West and give the Sefwi Bekwai–Asankrangua, Bawdie–Asankrangua, Aboye Nkwanta–Samreboi, Prestea–Nkwanta and other critical roads the urgent attention they require.
