The New Patriotic Party (NPP), once hailed as a beacon of democratic values and internal inclusiveness, now faces a critical moment in its history. The Super Delegates Election system, initially intended to streamline our internal democratic process, has proven to be a divisive and undemocratic mechanism that alienates the grassroots and undermines the very foundation of our party’s core values.
I stand in strong support of the growing call to abolish the Super Delegates Election. It has become increasingly evident that this process concentrates power in the hands of a few, marginalizes the broader base of our party, and promotes the politics of favoritism and elitism. This is not the NPP we envisioned — a party of the people, for the people, and by the people.
The current system weakens transparency, fuels suspicion, and erodes trust among our loyal members. If we are to build a truly united and formidable front for the future, we must return to a system that gives every delegate, every constituency, and every voice an equal opportunity to be heard.
Let us not allow short-term interests to destroy the long-term vision of our great party. Abolishing the Super Delegates Election is not just a reform — it is a necessary step toward restoring credibility, unity, and grassroots empowerment in the NPP.
