BIBIANI RESIDENTS FUME OVER MINORS IN PRAGYA BUSINESS●DEMAND STRICT POLICE ENFORCEMENT

Residents of Bibiani in the Western North Region have expressed concern over the involvement of minors in the operation of Pragya tricycles for commercial purposes in the municipality.

The residents say the growing presence of minors in the Pragya business raises serious concerns about road safety, child welfare and the enforcement of laws governing commercial transport.

According to them, some children who should be in school are allegedly spending significant periods operating or assisting with commercial Pragya activities within the community.

The residents fear that allowing minors to operate commercial tricycles could expose them and other road users to avoidable accidents, particularly where the young operators may lack the required training, experience or legal authorisation.

They have therefore called on the police and other relevant authorities to intensify monitoring of Pragya operations and take appropriate action where minors are found operating the vehicles unlawfully.

The residents also urged Pragya owners and operators to desist from engaging children in activities that could endanger their lives or interfere with their education.

They said enforcement should not be selective, arguing that all commercial transport operators must comply with road safety regulations and other applicable laws.

Some residents further appealed to parents and guardians to discourage their children from engaging in commercial transport activities during school hours or at the expense of their education.

They stressed the need for sustained education and enforcement campaigns to ensure that Pragya operations in Bibiani are conducted responsibly and safely.

The residents said they were not opposed to Pragya businesses but wanted the authorities to ensure that the sector operated within the law while protecting minors and other road users.
