The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Kofi Benteh Afful, has successfully lobbied for the construction of five mobile network cell sites to address persistent network connectivity challenges affecting residents in parts of the constituency.
The intervention, which is expected to significantly improve telecommunications services, will benefit residents of Sui, Aboagyekrom, Tanoso Division, Aboanidua and RCC.
The initiative follows engagements and lobbying efforts by the MP with relevant stakeholders, including the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations and MTN Ghana, to improve network coverage and address communication difficulties in the beneficiary communities.
As part of the progress made so far, the construction of the Aboanidua mobile cell site has been completed, marking a significant milestone in efforts to improve telecommunications infrastructure in the area.
Meanwhile, contractors are expected to move to the remaining four communities to commence construction work, bringing hope to residents who have endured persistent challenges with mobile network connectivity.
The completion of the projects is expected to improve voice communication, enhance internet access and facilitate easier communication among residents, businesses and public institutions.
Improved network connectivity is also expected to support commercial activities, mobile money transactions, educational activities and access to essential digital services, particularly among young people, entrepreneurs and small-scale business operators.
The intervention is being regarded as an important step towards addressing the digital infrastructure gap in underserved communities and ensuring that residents in rural areas enjoy improved access to modern communication services.
The MP’s lobbying efforts have received support from Hon. Samuel Nettey George and the MTN Ghana Regional Manager, whose contributions and collaboration have been acknowledged as instrumental in advancing the initiative.
The development underscores the importance of effective parliamentary representation, stakeholder collaboration and sustained engagement in addressing the developmental needs of constituents. Residents are expected to benefit significantly when construction at the remaining four locations is completed.
Better network connectivity, stronger communities and greater opportunities for all.
