A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team in the Ashanti Region, Amos Mensah, has declared that former Vice President and 2024 Presidential Candidate for the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, remains the party’s most winnable candidate for the 2028 general elections.
During an interview with the press, Mr. Mensah, who is also known for his work as an exhaust pipe specialist, stated that no internal or external forces can derail the momentum of what he described as the “Winnable Team Bawumia.” He emphasized that the grassroots still believe in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, experience, and appeal across the country.
According to him, any attempt to undermine Dr. Bawumia’s chances within the party would be an act of political sabotage. “Only nation wreckers would choose Kennedy Agyapong over Dr. Bawumia,” he said bluntly. “Kennedy is not the path to power—Bawumia is.”
Drawing on Ghana’s political history, Mr. Mensah noted that some of the country’s most successful presidential candidates had to run multiple times before winning power. “Look at Presidents Atta Mills, John Mahama, and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo—they all had to contest more than once. The second coming of Dr. Bawumia, as our 2028 flagbearer, will be historic,” he predicted.
He called on the NPP leadership and the rank and file to put aside internal wrangling and rally solidly behind Dr. Bawumia to reclaim power in 2028. “Now is not the time for division. The real opponent is the NDC, and we must focus our energy on defeating them at the polls,” he said.
Mr. Mensah also took a swipe at the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the current administration of failing on its mandate. “From economic hardship to policy confusion, the NDC continues to disappoint Ghanaians, and that will be their undoing in 2028,” he added.
He concluded with a call for unity, hope, and focused communication across all levels of the party. “Let us not lose sight of the mission. Dr. Bawumia is the surest ticket—and together, we can return the NPP to power,” he said.
