Chieftaincy Disputes Stifle Development In Boso-Gua

The Boso-Gua Traditional Area in Ghana’s Eastern Region is facing significant challenges due to chieftaincy disputes, which have hindered development and peace in the area. The Omanhene, Okotwasuo Nyarko Yeboah III, has appealed to the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs to intervene and resolve the disputes ¹.

According to Nana Nyarko Yeboah III, the disputes have prevented the community from celebrating the Ojooni festival for over 10 years. Residents have expressed their frustration, stating that the conflict has made it difficult for them to enjoy peace and development. The area, once a thriving commercial town, is now struggling to recover from the prolonged conflict.

The Omanhene and the Queenmother of Boso have both appealed to the government to assist in resolving the conflict and promoting peace and development in the area. The government’s intervention is seen as crucial in addressing the issue and restoring normalcy to the community.
