Chinese Miners Forced Out of Juaboso Over Unmet Promises, Pollution

Juaboso, Western North Region – Tensions reached a boiling point in Juaboso earlier this week as a group of angry youth stormed and expelled Chinese miners operating in the township. The youth accused the miners of breaking employment promises, neglecting their social responsibilities, and engaging in environmentally harmful practices.

According to eyewitness reports, the dramatic confrontation was the culmination of years of frustration among residents—particularly unemployed youth—who claimed their repeated appeals to both the mining firm and local authorities had been ignored. The miners were forced to vacate the site as the protesting youth took over to prevent further operations.

At a press conference held after the incident, Nana Agyeman Prempeh, leader of the aggrieved youth, justified the group’s actions. He accused the Chinese miners of failing to deliver on promises to provide local employment and support community development projects.

“They’ve polluted our environment with harmful chemicals, and yet we remain jobless and neglected. Enough is enough.” He further alleged that the miners’ use of toxic substances—without proper waste management—posed a significant risk to the health of residents and the ecological balance of the area.

In a strong warning, Nana Prempeh made it clear that the youth would no longer tolerate mining activities by the Chinese in Juaboso.

Following the expulsion of the miners, the police have since taken over the site to maintain order and ensure the safety of both the community and property.
