The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has inaugurated the Regional Lands Commission Board in the Western North Region. This significant event underscores the government’s commitment to improving land administration and governance.

The Minister announced a new policy, “Small-Scale Mining Co-operatives,” aimed at promoting responsible and sustainable mining practices. This policy is expected to benefit mining communities and contribute to the region’s economic development.
The policy includes the establishment of district offices in each district within the next two months to improve accessibility and efficiency in land administration. This initiative will enhance service delivery and ensure that land governance is more responsive to the needs of local communities.

The Minister also highlighted a partnership with the Forestry Commission on the “Tree for Life” initiative, scheduled to begin in June. This initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability and tree planting across the country, contributing to a greener and healthier environment for future generations.
Hon. Wilbert Petty Brentum, a key figure in the region, has expressed support for the new policy, citing its potential to bring lasting benefits to mining communities and improve land governance. His endorsement underscores the collaborative efforts between government officials and local leaders to drive positive change.

This development marks a significant step towards improving land governance and promoting sustainable development in the region. The inauguration of the Regional Lands Commission Board and the introduction of the Small-Scale Mining Co-operatives policy are expected to have a lasting impact on the region’s economic and environmental landscape.
