Loyalty Deserves Recognition: Domeabra-Obom Pleads with John Mahama for a Key Gov’t Appointment

RECOGNIZING DOMEABRA-OBOM CONSTITUENCY’S LOYALTY TO THE NDC: A CALL TO H.E. PRESIDENT JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA AND NATIONAL CHAIRMAN HON. JOHNSON ASIEDU NKETIAH

The Domeabra-Obom Constituency has undergone several administrative changes over the years. Initially part of the Ga West Municipality, with Amasaman as its capital, it was later incorporated into the former Ga South Municipality, where Weija served as the capital. Today, it falls under the newly created Ga South Municipality, with Ngleshie Amanfrom as its capital. Despite these transitions, the constituency is yet to receive any significant political appointments.

Established in 2004 ahead of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections, Domeabra-Obom was formed following the division of the former Ga South Municipality into the Weija and Trobu-Amasaman constituencies. Over the years, it has remained a stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), demonstrating consistent loyalty to the party. However, while other constituencies have secured key political appointments despite shifts in political power, Domeabra-Obom continues to be overlooked.

The constituency shares borders with several others, including Amasaman and Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom in the Greater Accra Region, Awutu Senya East and West in the Central Region, and Upper West Akim and Nsawam Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region. Notably, even constituencies that have occasionally lost their seats to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have still benefited from key appointments. Yet, Domeabra-Obom, despite its unwavering support for the NDC, has not received similar recognition.

The continued absence of high-profile appointments—such as Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs), Ministers of State, Ambassadors, and Chief Executive Officers—has led to growing frustration among party members, especially the youth. If left unaddressed, this lack of recognition could weaken the party’s grassroots support in the constituency.

We, therefore, earnestly appeal to the leadership of the NDC to acknowledge Domeabra-Obom’s steadfast commitment by appointing an MCE for the Ga South Municipality from the constituency and considering qualified individuals from the area for other key political positions.
