Sefwi Bekwai, Western North Region – In an exciting display of intellectual prowess, Sefwi Bekwai Catholic ‘A’ School emerged as the champion of the Nana Abena Anninwaa II Quiz Competition. The grand finale, held on October 16, 2024, at the Methodist Church auditorium, brought together some of the brightest minds from schools across three circuits.
Organized in honor of Nana Abena Anninwaa II, the Paramount Queen mother of Sefwi Bekwai who doubles as the Deputy chairperson, Ghana Queen Mothers Association, the competition aimed to promote academic excellence, critical thinking, and healthy competition among students. Over thirty schools participated, showcasing knowledge in mathematics, science, English language, and chieftaincy affairs.
After a fiercely contested battle of wits, Sefwi Bekwai Catholic ‘A’ School secured the top spot in the Junior high cycle, taking home the ultimate prize of GHC 1,500.00 and assorted essential stationery followed by Bekwai SDA JHS with one thousand cedis cash prize as well as stationery. The winning team, comprising the school reps demonstrated exceptional teamwork, strategy, and quick thinking.
In the primary school category, Sefwi Bekwai M/A ‘A’ Primary emerged victorious, taking home a cash prize of GHC 1,500.00 and assorted stationery.
Humjibre M/A Primary School secured second place, receiving a cash prize of GHC 1,000.00 along with stationery.
Bekwai SDA Primary School claimed third place, earning a cash prize of GHC 500.00 and stationery.
“We are overwhelmed with joy and gratitude. This victory is a testament to our students’ dedication, hard work, and supportive school environment.”
The quiz competition’s organizer expressed satisfaction with the event’s success. “We are proud to have provided a platform for these talented students to showcase their abilities. We look forward to continuing this initiative and inspiring future generations.”
Distinguished guests, including Nana Ampem Saaku III, congratulated the winners and encouraged participants to strive for academic excellence. Nana Saaku gifted cash prizes among others to the emerging winners.
In her closing remarks, Nana Abena Anninwaa II reiterated her commitment to organizing educative programs to enhance students’ knowledge in the Bekwai area. “Although costly, I prefer spending on these young students’ education over anything else,” she emphasized. “Parents, please take your children’s education seriously.”
