The Dormaa Central Constituency organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Dominic Adoma, has attributed the alarming incidence of examination malpractices among students during external examinations to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
He chastised WAEC for the persistent withholding of examination results, emphasizing that they must bear responsibility for all leaks of examination questions. Consequently, matters concerning their security and integrity must be addressed, rather than penalizing students by withholding their results.
Mr. Adoma contended that the working conditions for WAEC examiners, invigilators, and supervisors are deplorably inadequate. This occasionally forces these supervisors and invigilators to be swayed by the modest incentives offered by students. He implored WAEC to provide improved conditions of service for their invigilators and examiners, thereby motivating them to perform their duties without compromise.
Mr. Adoma proposed that merely withholding examination results is insufficient in combating examination malpractices. Instead, it is imperative to commence the development of a robust educational system from the foundational level. This would ensure a solid base for students, broadening their knowledge for effective understanding of what they are taught.
