HON. OHENE KWAME FRIMPONG DEMANDS RETRACTION OF MALICIOUS GHANAWEB REPORT

Hon. Ohene Kwame Frimpong, Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, has directed his legal team to demand an immediate retraction from GhanaWeb over what he describes as a false and malicious publication.

The online report, published on September 8, 2025, claimed that Hon. Frimpong is currently undergoing trial outside the country, a claim the lawmaker categorically denies.

In a strongly-worded letter dated September 8 and signed by his solicitors at NexLaw, the MP stressed that there are no pending legal proceedings—civil or criminal—against him in any court of competent jurisdiction, whether in Ghana or abroad.

The lawyers said the publication has seriously damaged the reputation of the MP and caused disaffection among his constituents, raising concerns about his credibility and position as a public representative.

“Our client categorically denies this allegation, which is entirely false, baseless, and malicious,” the letter stated.

NexLaw has instructed GhanaWeb to immediately retract the report from all platforms on which it has appeared and to cease publishing any further unverified or false claims about Hon. Frimpong.

The law firm warned that failure to comply with the demands within 24 hours would compel the MP to take all necessary legal action without further notice.

The warning letter has also been copied to all media houses across the country, signaling a clear message to the media to verify facts before publication.

Political observers say the move underscores the need for responsible journalism and the consequences of spreading unverified information that can harm public officials and institutions.

Hon. Frimpong, through his lawyers, emphasized that protecting his integrity and reputation is paramount, and he will pursue all avenues to ensure that false information is corrected and accountability is maintained.

Dear Sir/Madam,

RE: DEMAND FOR RETRACTION AND CESSATION OF FABRICATED PUBLICATION AGAINST HONOURABLE OHENE KWAME FRIMPONG

We act as Solicitors for Honourable Ohene Kwame Frimpong, Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North (hereinafter referred to as “our client”), and write in respect of the above subject matter.

Our client’s attention has been drawn to a malicious publication on your online platform dated 8th September 2025, in which it was falsely alleged that our client is currently undergoing trial outside the country, thereby putting his parliamentary seat at risk.

Our client categorically denies this allegation, which is entirely false, baseless, and malicious. We wish to state, unequivocally, that there are no pending legal proceedings—civil or criminal—against our client in any court of competent jurisdiction, whether in Ghana or elsewhere.

This fabricated publication has gravely injured, and continues to injure, our client’s hard-earned reputation, creating disaffection among his constituents and the general public. Accordingly, we are instructed by our client to demand the following:

1. That the said malicious publication be immediately retracted from all your platforms where it has been circulated.

2. That you immediately cease and desist from publishing any further false, spurious, or unverified allegations against our client.

Failure to comply with these demands within twenty-four (24) hours of receipt of this letter will leave us with no option but to take all necessary legal action against you, including instituting proceedings in court, without further notice.

Be so advised.

Yours faithfully,

ELVIS ADU-AMEYAW
(Solicitor for Honourable Ohene Kwame Frimpong)
