BAB MP, MCE LEAD HISTORIC MOVE: DVLA OFFICE TO SERVE BIBIANI, BEYOND

The long wait for a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) office in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai is finally nearing its end, thanks to the decisive leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Sebastian Obeng, and the unwavering commitment of the Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Bright Asamoah Brefo. Over the weekend, the MCE led a high-powered delegation from the DVLA Head Office to inspect the proposed site for the much-anticipated facility.

The technical team, led by Mr. Hudu, arrived in Bibiani on Saturday, September 13, to conduct the official assessment. The visit marks a crucial step toward bringing licensing and vehicle-related services closer to residents who, for years, have endured the burden of traveling long distances to other municipalities to access DVLA services.

Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Obeng assured the public that the Assembly is working hand in hand with the DVLA to fast-track all necessary processes. He emphasized that the establishment of the office will not only reduce stress and costs for drivers and vehicle owners but also strengthen compliance with road safety regulations across the municipality.

The initiative has been strongly backed by Hon. Bright Asamoah Brefo, who personally sponsored the technical team’s visit. His collaboration with the MCE has been hailed as a model of effective leadership, showing how local and national representatives can work together to deliver meaningful development for their people.

Residents have greeted the news with excitement, noting that the facility will save them money, reduce travel time, and simplify the acquisition of licenses and vehicle documents. “This is a big relief for us drivers. We’ve been waiting for years,” a commercial driver at Bibiani station told this paper.

Once established, the DVLA office is expected to serve not only Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai but also surrounding towns and districts, positioning Bibiani as a hub for licensing services in the Western North Region. Stakeholders say the project will boost local economic activity and attract more institutions to the area.

On behalf of the Municipal Assembly, Hon. Obeng expressed gratitude to the MP for his tireless support and to the DVLA technical team for their swift response. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the office becomes operational in record time, describing it as “a historic move that will transform service delivery in Bibiani and beyond.”
