The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association, has extend their warmest congratulations to President-elect John Mahama, on his well-deserved victory while calling for prioritization of the sector to boost the economy.
On behalf of the association, the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Takyi Addo extended a heartwarming wishes to H.E John Dramani Mahama.
He said “We are thrilled to see you return to the helm of our great nation, and we are confident that your leadership will bring about the positive change we so eagerly anticipate”.
“Your past proposals, particularly the fixed rate for spare parts importation, have shown that you truly understand the needs and concerns of our industry. We believe that with your support, our sector can flourish, creating more jobs and stimulating economic growth. We look forward to working closely with your administration to ensure that our industry receives the attention and support it deserves”.
“Once again, please accept our heartfelt congratulations, President-elect Mahama. We are eager to see the impact of your leadership and vision on our nation. Moreover, I want to seize this golden opportunity to call on the new government to prioritize the spare parts sector.
Mr. Takyi Addo, emphasized that the sector must be critically looked at to revive the economy.
He called for urgent government intervention to scrap draconian taxes within the first 120 days in office. These taxes include the emissions levy, e-levy, COVID levy, and the 10% levy on bet winnings. He also expressed shock at the 22 levies and fees imposed on the clearing of goods at the ports.
The association believes that the spare parts sector has the potential to create employment opportunities for the youth, reduce unemployment rates, and improve the standard of living for Ghanaians.
Mr. Takyi noted that Ghana must take the spare parts business seriously and utilize its potential to improve and benefit businesses for the growth and development of the economy.
On his part, the association Chariman, Mr. Henry Okyere Jnr expressed his well wishes to the President and Vice President-Elect, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang” I, the chairman of Abossey Okai spare parts dealers, humbly appeal to you to fulfill the proposals you made regarding the importation of spare parts in our country. We, the spare parts dealers, are eager to see the positive impact of your policies on our businesses and the economy at large”.
