Frank Nelson Ackah’s bid for the Youth Organiser position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is attracting attention, with his supporters highlighting his extensive experience in local governance, youth development, education, communication, and community leadership.
Mr Ackah is the National President of the Ghana Association of Assembly Members (GAAM), a position that has given him significant exposure to local governance, decentralisation, and issues affecting communities across the country.
His political and community leadership credentials also include three terms as an elected Assembly Member for Asawinso A, where he represented the electorates and participated directly in local governance and community development.
Supporters of his ambition believe his years of grassroots engagement have given him practical knowledge of the concerns confronting young people, particularly in the areas of employment, education, entrepreneurship, and political participation.
Mr Ackah is also an educationist, an author, and a philanthropist, with a record of involvement in community-oriented activities and initiatives aimed at supporting individuals and creating opportunities for young people.
His background as a communication expert is another aspect being highlighted by his supporters, particularly in an era where effective communication and engagement are considered important to youth mobilisation and organisation.
He also has experience in local government, giving him an understanding of the relationship between grassroots communities, elected representatives, and central government, as well as the role of local structures in national development.
His professional experience further includes serving as a former proprietor and Youth Employment Coordinator for the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality (BABM), where he was involved in youth mobilisation and employment-related activities. These roles exposed him to issues surrounding entrepreneurship, employment creation, and the challenges facing young people seeking sustainable livelihoods.
As an experienced politician, Mr Ackah has over the years combined political engagement with professional and community leadership. His supporters contend that this combination of experience gives him a broad understanding of the youth constituency and the structures required for effective grassroots mobilisation.
His Youth Organiser ambition has consequently generated renewed discussion within political circles, with supporters expressing hope that his experience, leadership background, and understanding of grassroots politics will help strengthen the NDC’s youth mobilisation efforts and contribute to efforts to retain the Bibiani parliamentary seat. They are positioning him as an experienced hand who, in their view, brings a combination of political, professional, and community credentials to the contest.
