An award winning and renowned herbal Doctor and activist in the Ashanti region of Ghana,Dr. Amegashie, has issued a stern warning to the government: take immediate action against the galamsey menace or face fierce accountability.

The galamsey crisis has ravaged Ghana’s environment, destroying forests, polluting water bodies, and endangering lives. Despite repeated promises, the government’s efforts to combat the issue have been ineffective, prompting Dr. Amegashie’s ultimatum.

“The government’s inaction is unacceptable,” Dr. Amegashie declared. We will not stand idly by while our environment is destroyed. If the government fails to act, we will hold them accountable through massive protests, legal action, and international pressure.”

Dr. Amegashie emphasized that the galamsey menace is not just an environmental issue but a human rights crisis, affecting the health and livelihoods of millions. “The government’s failure to address this crisis is a betrayal of the trust placed in them by the people,” he added.

The activist’s warning comes as the galamsey crisis reaches alarming proportions. Recent reports indicate that over 60% of Ghana’s water bodies are polluted, and thousands of acres of forest have been destroyed.

Dr. Amegashie’s call to action has resonated with many, who see the government’s inaction as a dereliction of duty. As the clock ticks, the government must choose: take decisive action against galamsey or face the consequences of fierce accountability.
