Hon. Richard Yeboah Endorses Women Development Bank, Cautions Against Politicization

Hon. Richard Yeboah, Assemblyman for Krobo Achiaw electoral area in the Techiman North District, has welcomed the government’s proposal to establish a Women Development Bank. The bank aims to provide interest-free loans to women entrepreneurs in Ghana, offering a vital lifeline for business expansion.

Hon. Yeboah expressed his support for the initiative, stating, “I am pleased to see the government taking steps to support women in business.” However, he also raised concerns about the potential politicization of the bank. Citing instances where individuals have failed to repay loans from institutions like MASLOC, Hon. Yeboah emphasized the need to ensure the bank’s purpose is not undermined.

“We must learn from the mistakes of the past and ensure that this institution truly supports women entrepreneurs,” Hon. Yeboah said. He called on the government to implement the bank effectively and manage it efficiently, engaging with stakeholders, including women entrepreneurs and civil society organizations.
