Nana Owusu Damoah Ameyaw III Calls on Community to Harness Tourist Centers

Nana Owusu Damoah Ameyaw III, the chief of Buabeng, is urging his community to develop and sustain Ghana’s tourist centers, particularly the Buabeng-Fiema monkey sanctuary. This sanctuary is a unique natural and cultural heritage site with the potential to drive economic growth in the community.

The chief emphasized the importance of collaboration among community members, municipal and district authorities, and NGOs to support the development of the sanctuary. He also called on MPs to advocate for more investment in the tourist center and promote sustainable tourism.

Nana Owusu Damoah Ameyaw III cautioned against activities that harm the environment, such as bush fires, and threatened to invoke curses on those responsible. He stressed the need for community members to commit to protecting the environment and developing the tourist center for the benefit of all.

The Buabeng-Fiema monkey sanctuary is home to two monkey species and has already gained recognition, contributing to socio-economic development in the area. However, more needs to be done to develop the site and attract more tourists.

To achieve this goal, Nana Owusu Damoah Ameyaw III proposed the establishment of a community-led management committee to oversee the development and management of the sanctuary. This committee would ensure that the interests of the community are represented and that the sanctuary is developed in a sustainable and responsible manner.

The chief also emphasized the importance of providing training and capacity-building programs for community members, particularly youth, to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to manage and maintain the sanctuary. This would not only create employment opportunities but also ensure that the community is empowered to take ownership of the sanctuary.

Furthermore, Nana Owusu Damoah Ameyaw III called on the government to provide the necessary support and resources to develop the infrastructure needed to attract more tourists to the area. This includes improving roads, providing accommodation facilities, and developing other tourist attractions in the area.

In conclusion, the development of the Buabeng-Fiema monkey sanctuary and other tourist centers in the community requires a collective effort from all stakeholders. Nana Owusu Damoah Ameyaw III’s call to action is a step in the right direction, and it is hoped that his community will rally behind him to develop the sanctuary and create a brighter future for themselves.
