The Assembly Member for the Abrodease Wurafum Electoral Area in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa Municipality of the Central Region, Hon. Samuel Kojo Assampong Andoh, has assured residents of his determination to attract and facilitate massive development projects to improve the living conditions of the people.
Hon. Assampong Andoh said he remained committed to addressing the pressing needs of residents and creating an environment where the people could have access to basic social amenities and improved livelihoods. He therefore appealed to the government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private sector and other development partners to support his development agenda.
According to him, he has already undertaken a number of interventions aimed at supporting vulnerable residents in the electoral area. He mentioned assistance to needy persons, including the aged, as some of the initiatives he has pursued to improve the welfare of residents who require additional support.
The Assembly Member also pointed to the provision of a bridge and a footbridge over a long-standing drainage as one of his key interventions. He explained that the drainage had for a long time served as a major obstacle to movement within the community, particularly during rainy seasons, making the bridge and footbridge important for residents, schoolchildren and other road users.
Hon. Assampong Andoh further disclosed that he has been supporting residents with the yearly renewal of their National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) membership. He said the initiative was intended to help residents, especially vulnerable people, maintain access to healthcare without being burdened by the cost of renewing their health insurance.
On security, he said street bulbs had been provided at strategic locations within the electoral area to improve visibility at night. He noted that better street lighting would help residents move around safely after dark while contributing to efforts to improve security in the community.
He added that persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the electoral area had also received support. Hon. Assampong Andoh said he would continue to pay attention to the needs of vulnerable groups and work to ensure that they were included in the development process.
However, he called for support towards the renovation of the mechanised boreholes serving the community. He appealed to the government, NGOs and other development partners to assist in rehabilitating the facilities to provide residents with a more reliable supply of potable water.
Hon. Assampong Andoh also announced plans to facilitate the provision of an information centre for the people, noting that the community had expanded considerably in recent years. He said the growing population made it necessary to provide a dedicated facility where residents could access important information and hold community-related activities.
The Assembly Member further called for support towards the construction of a toilet facility under a Build, Operate and Transfer (BoT) arrangement to address the sanitation needs of the growing community. He appealed to the government, NGOs, private sector and other development partners to support the initiative, stressing that improved sanitation and basic infrastructure remained essential to the sustainable development of Abrodease Wurafum.
